Izabela Melkonyan, born in Yerevan, Armenia, received her first piano lesson at the age of eight. From 1996 to 2001 she studied at the State Conservatory in Yerevan. She continued at the University of Music Lübeck in the class of Prof. Konrad Elser, where she completed her studies with honors.
She is also winner of the Young Pianist Competition in Yerevan and was awarded Best Supporting Director at the Aslamazyan Competition for Strings. In 2005/2006, Izabela was awarded a scholarship by the DAAD.
In 2011 she took part in the Max Reger Chamber Music Competition and won the 3rd prize. Radio broadcasts and television recordings of Izabela were made by the NDR, BR, NDR television and Deutsche Welle television in the series “Stars of Tomorrow”. Izabela is an accompanist at various masterclasses, including the OberstdorferMusiksommer, the Summer Music Academy in Hamburg and musique à Flaine (France).
From 2005-2016 she was a lecturer in piano accompaniment at the University of Music Lübeck, since 2013 she is a lecturer for string co-repetition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
