Course 2: Florian Richter – Viola

Florian Richter has taken over a professorship for the subject Viola for the winter semester 2017 at the University of Music Nuremberg. He received his first lessons in violin at the University of Music & Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig under Prof. Klaus Hertel. In 2000 he moved to the viola, in 2001 to the music high school “Schloss Belvedere” Weimar in the viola class of Prof. Erich Krüger. The multiple 1st Federal Prize winner at “Jugend musiziert”, studied at the Academy of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar with Prof. Ditte Leser / Prof. Erich Krüger, which he finished with the concert exam with distinction. He received important musical impulses at chamber music and viola master classes, among others with Prof. Alfred Lipka, Prof. Dietmar Hallmann, Prof. Hartmut Rohde, Prof. Martin Spangenberg, and Prof. Norbert Brainin. Florian Richter was a fellow of the “Hans & Eugenia Jütting Foundation”, the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben” and the “Carl Flesch Academy”. As a soloist, he played under the direction of Johannes Klumpp, Helmuth Rilling, Stefan Solyom, Michael Sanderling, and Marek Janowski. From 2010 to 2012 Florian Richter was solo violist of the Staatskapelle Weimar. In addition, Florian Richter was solo violist in the Staatsorchester Stuttgart from 2012 to 2017. Since 2011, Florian Richter has been involved in the music school “Schloss Belvedere” in Weimar for young talent in the field of the viola. Since August 2017 Florian Richter is solo violist of the “Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden”.
