International Music Masterclass Academy 2026
International Recognition for Musical Excellence, Young Talent and Cultural Exchange
Mühldorf am Inn, 10 October 2026. The Mühldorfer Sommerakademie has received the European Travel Award 2026. British publication EU Business News named it “Best International Music Masterclass Academy 2026”. The award recognises the academy’s international music education programme and its contribution to cultural exchange.
For more than two decades, the Mühldorfer Sommerakademie has welcomed young musicians from around the world. Every late summer, the historic town of Mühldorf am Inn becomes a meeting place for musical talent and artistic collaboration. The academy combines high-quality music education with the region’s cultural heritage. As a result, it offers participants both professional development and opportunities for international exchange.
International Music Masterclass Academy Receives European Award
Each year, distinguished masterclasses attract talented young musicians from Europe, Asia and the Americas. The programme includes violin, viola, cello, double bass and tango chamber music.
Under the guidance of experienced tutors, participants develop their musical abilities and explore new approaches to interpretation. They also gain valuable experience through collaborative music-making. In addition, working alongside musicians from different cultural backgrounds encourages new perspectives and artistic connections.
The academy therefore supports individual artistic development while creating opportunities for international collaboration. Its educational approach combines intensive tuition with shared musical experiences.
The organising team welcomes the recognition:
“The award demonstrates that high-quality cultural initiatives and regional tourism can go hand in hand. Our students and tutors bring an international atmosphere to the town and carry Mühldorf’s name into the world as cultural ambassadors.”
A Cultural and Economic Benefit for the Region
The Mühldorfer Sommerakademie also contributes to the cultural and economic life of Mühldorf am Inn and its surrounding communities.
During the academy, visiting musicians support local businesses, particularly restaurants and hotels. Meanwhile, host families welcome participants into their homes, encouraging personal encounters and intercultural understanding. These exchanges often create connections that extend beyond the duration of the courses.
The academy’s celebratory final concerts have become established features of the regional cultural calendar. Performances take place at the Haberkasten, the Ökonomiestadel community centre, the Kulturbahnhof in Neumarkt-St. Veit and the Hans-Prähofer-Haus.
These concerts give audiences an opportunity to experience the results of the intensive masterclasses. At the same time, they allow young musicians to share their achievements with the wider community. Consequently, the academy contributes to the region’s cultural life beyond its educational programme.
International Music Masterclass Academy Strengthens Cultural Connections
The European Travel Award 2026 recognises the Mühldorfer Sommerakademie’s commitment to nurturing young musical talent. It also acknowledges the academy’s role in promoting international collaboration and cultural understanding.
Through its masterclasses, concerts and personal encounters, the academy brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, these activities strengthen Mühldorf am Inn’s reputation as a destination for international music education.
The award therefore celebrates more than musical achievement. It recognises an initiative that connects people, supports emerging artists and enriches the cultural life of the region. In doing so, the Mühldorfer Sommerakademie demonstrates how music education can contribute to lasting international relationships.
